Pickholder: Keep Them Safe

PickholderOf all of the weird things that you probably do not even need, a pickholder with a light may be tops on that list, even if you are an avid guitar player. Okay, so here is the deal. They are exactly what they sound like, it is a small piece of plastic that holds guitar picks. Sometimes they come in a smaller size, meant to be worn around the neck. The larger types are around the size of the palm of the average hand and can hold a good number.

As a guitar player or musician, you might be faced with tons of products that might sound good during the really late night hours but in the cold light of day, may seem frivolous or even silly. Other products, especially accessories can become almost an obsessive habit for some guitarists as they work to establish a stage persona for themselves.

It is nothing for some artists to end up with a dozen guitars, instruments that they play for different situations and in different settings. Besides the guitars, they might have twice as many guitar straps. There are straps for just practice and then straps that are a little showier for on stage moments. You know, musicians speak to their audience through their music plus the way that they look in most situations.

For a pickholder, there is only one real task that should be really considered –holding the picks that you need while on stage. There are some that can be mounted to your guitar with a small strip of adhesive on the back, but the problem with these is not only can they get in the way of your playing, especially if you are a wild and crazy, swing your guitar around kind of person, but they can also dull or change the sound on a very sensitive guitar like an acoustic which relies on delicate notes and tones for the best performance. There is always the chance that the adhesive will not hold and may damage the finish of the guitar or worse, fall off while on stage. Stepping on one and falling to the ground during a performance is not something that you need, either.

As a performer, you may find yourself in a number of situations where you will need different items and accessories. But, it is likely to be a fairly safe bet that the day is not going to come where you are going to find yourself needing to have a pickholder that comes with its own light.
